Here's to our first family blog......

There are so many funny and adorable things you both do in a day that we could never remember them all so we decided to start this blog.  We want to use this to record all the good and even not so good memories of our lives.

Today, January 3rd, 2012 Mac is officially 7 months old and Maric is 2 1/2 years old.  Maric - you are talking like crazy, you love to pretend things - today you pretended to visit Uncle Mike and Aunt Becky's farm to look at their cows.  You are in the middle of potty training and are currently not doing so well.  Tonight you strained very hard while pooping and told me "I have to use all my muscles!"  You are trying to get out of afternoon naps and we are fighting that very hard, so far you are winning.

As I type, Mac is screaming in his crib after only sleeping for 1 hour, never ask us for advice on getting kids to sleep! Mac - you are a little maniac.  You want to explore everything by army crawling everywhere.  You get stuck under things and get really mad about it!  You are eating solids and are not very interested in vegetables, I hope that changes.
We celebrated a wonderful Christmas but received the "gift" of the stomach flu all around. It started with Mac on Tuesday December 20th and had spread to the entire family by Thursday. Santa brought gifts to our house one day early since he knew we'd be traveling. He brought Maric an easel and Mac a basketball goal. It was a Gymboree Christmas - we gave you a parachute, bubbles, and bubble fan and Maric has been pretending to be Mrs. Wendy and Mrs. Sara, our teachers at Gymboree! You both got hats from Gap and that along with a lunchbox might have been Maric's favorite presents. Mac's hat was size 6-12 months but his big head seems to have maxed it out already! Mac mostly wanted to eat the wrapping paper and stare at the bubbles. Maric was not as interested in gift opening as we thought she would be, midway through she decided to have "milky" on the couch and watch Dora. We drove to Grammy and Grampy's on Christmas Eve and had dinner with the Wilson's and took Big Grandma to look at Christmas lights. Everyone (including DeeDee the poodle) decided to cry for a very long 5 minutes and then we finally got to enjoy the lights. We had Christmas morning at Grammy and Grampy's - Maric got a huge stuffed horse that she can ride, she named him "Donnie,"not sure where that name came from but it stuck! Mac got a fun snail that travels around the room and of course Mac wants to go with it. You were both blessed with lots of great clothes and toys and full stockings. We went to Nana and Papa's on Christmas night for a relaxing evening of grilled cheese sandwiches, TV watching, and a restful night. They gave us a great gift - Nana slept with Mac and Papa slept with Maric! Unfortunately we gave back the gift of the stomach flu to Nana, Grammy, Grampy, Keaton, Avery, and Aunt Becca - it was one volatile bug! Daddy lost 8 pounds and thought he'd never be the same again.....he's fine now and the 8 pounds is back!

We are looking forward to a year full of great memories in 2012!
